rusty metal

Rusty metal might not seem very exciting, but for a photographer, it can provide a visual treat to shoot, especially if you're interested in making images which are abstract or graphic in design. Cracks, peeling paint, holes, drips...all of these can provide a wealth of colour, shape and texture to play with. Such material can be found on dumpsters, old vehicles, mailboxes; anything metal that has been neglected and exposed to the elements.

I find that soft, overcast light is ideal to shoot this type of thing, and light drizzle really makes the colours pop.
