52 week project: Familiar things

This self-assigned project involves my making one photograph, specifically for the project, per week, for one year. The purpose is to encourage myself to shoot regularly and to continue to develop my ability to "see" photographically in ordinary situations. To accomplish this, I am restricting my project photographs to those made in my home or cottage, within a mile of them, or on hotel property if traveling. I can create still life arrangements, but will use only those items available wherever I am at the time. Creative manipulation in Photoshop is allowed, provided the subject matter remains identifiable.

I intend to upload each week's photograph as I go and will write a short note about the making of each photograph.

Now that this project has been completed, I have created a self-published book about it, which is available as both a hard copy book as well as an ebook. Please click here to get more information, or see the Books section on this site.

Many of the images from this project are featured in an article entitled "Finding magic in the Mundane", Lenswork magazine, issue 104, Jan/Feb 2013.
